Purpose

The objectives defined among the provisions of Regional Law No. 42/1996 that established the Park can be summarised in:

-          conservation, care and recovery of ecosystems

-          promotion of social and economic purposes

-          scientific research

-          education and training

-          experimentation

The territory protected in the Friuli Dolomiti Alps Natural Park is an integral part of the Alpine Network of Protected Areas and the National Federation of Natural Parks and Protected Areas, and is also included in the Dolomiti Alps Parks network and co-operates actively in co-ordination with all the other protected areas in the Dolomiti Alps. These structures have the objective of increasing public awareness of and co-ordinating common actions for the achievement of Natural Park objectives on a vast scale with the intention of subsequently exporting the results obtained also to unprotected areas, in this way making a contribution to improving the quality of life for one and all.

The Park Administrative Body also works closely with the Giulie Pre-Alps Natural Park (Parco delle Prealpi Giulie) and the Slovenia Triglav National Park  (Parco Nazionale Sloveno del Triglav) in order to develop synergy between all the parks in the Eastern Alps area. Working together, various trans-national projects have been launched to provide greater uniformity to scientific research, the maintenance of trail networks, and use by visitors.
