The Park has numerous populations of animals of exceptional biological value: the Golden Eagle, the Steenbok, the Peregrine Falcon, and the Alpine Marmot, etc.

The Park is currently conducting specific research projects for many of these species dedicated to the study of their ecological-behavioural and biological aspects and effects on health.

- Amphibians and reptiles

The Park is also distinguished by numerous populations of Salamandra a. atra and Vipera a. ammodytes. In many places, the latter species shares the same habitat with Vipera berus and Vipera aspis francisciredi.

The area continues to feature the presence of Triturus a. alpestris, Rana temporaria  and an apparently isolated population of Archaeolacerta horvathi usually found further south in Italy. Bufo bufo, Salamandra s. salamandra and Triturus a. alpestris, are present throughout the entire territory while Triturus carnifex has more localised distribution.

Mammiferi 

La presenza degli ungulati, della Martora e del Tasso si può riferire a tutto l'ambito considerato, mentre l'Orso è stato più raramente segnalato sia in base a recenti avvistamenti (1997), sia in base a diversi indici di presenza. L’area, peraltro, ha una notevole vocazionalità per la specie.

Anche la Puzzola è ancora presente nei fondivalle, ma non sembra essere per nulla comune.

Tra i piccoli mammiferi dev'essere citato Chionomys nivalis, che risulta ben diffuso in tutti i macereti della zona.

- Mammals

Hoofed mammals, Martens and Marmots inhabit the entire territory, while the presence of Bears has been indicated more rarely by recent sightings (1997) and various presence indicators. The area offers, in fact, the classic habitat for the species.

Smaller mammals worthy of note include Chionomys nivalis, which is well distributed in all the Park's areas of scree. The presence of the rare Mioxide Eliomys q. quercinus has been  currently ascertained in only one location, while Muscardinus avellanarius and Myoxus glis are observed in numerous locations. 

- Birds

The Park's considerable size and nearly insignificant human presence encourage the presence of all the grouses usually seen in the Alps, and in particular, the wood grouse, black grouse, the black partridge  and the rock partridge

The southernmost areas of the Park feature are populated by diurnal and nocturnal winged predators such as the eagle owl, the harrier, the peregrine falcon and the brown kite. The population of golden eagles estimated at 8 nesting couples inside the Park or at its edges is encouraging and because the diet of this super-predator varies widely, the presence of the species testifies to the complexity of a food chain that ranges from hoofed mammals to rodents and bird species of international significance.

Griffon vultures have been occasionally sighted, while the consistent presence of species usually found only in undisturbed forest habitats includes the honey buzzard, black woodpecker, Tengman's owl and the pygmy owl.
