The Forni di Sotto Friuli Dolomiti Alps Nature Park Visitor's Center
This two-story building in front of the Town Hall displays natural science findings and educational material in order to increase public awareness of the value of our natural environment and the delicate Man-Forest relationship. Visitors leave the Center with a better idea of why Park territory is so worthy of protection.
The Forni di Sotto Visitor's Center provides an indoor reproduction of the forest environment that visitors encounter outside while hiking the Park's trails, and draws attention to the following topics:
· the physiological characteristics of selected plants;
· the types and forest species of plants growing in the Park;
· soil types
· past and present forestry techniques
A small interactive teaching laboratory equipped with stereoscopes and a screening and interactive game room is also available for use by visitors. |

THE VAL POSCHIADEA CABLEWAY
The Val Poschiadea Cableway has been faithfully reconstructed and positioned to appear as it looked up until the early 1960's. This interesting example of forestry archaeology was a predecessor of today's cableways that was once used to bring trees felled in distant, hard-to-reach woods down to the valley.
The Val Poschiadea Cableway operates in co-ordination with Forni di Sotto Visitor's Center activities and still plays a part in forestry and the transport of timber for the local community. |
