The Natural Park of the Friulian Dolomites, established by the Regional Law of the Autonomous Region Friuli Venezia Giulia # 42/1996, is included in the mountain range above the upper plain of Friuli-Veneto.
The area is characterized by a high level of “wilderness” typical of the vast territory among the Tagliamento, Piave and Cellina rivers.
In 2009 the territory of the Natural Park of the Friulian Dolomites became a UNESCO Natural Heritage, thus recognizing its outstanding worldwide quality.
The aims of the Natural Park of the Friulian Dolomites can be summarized as:
• conservation, protection and restoration of ecosystems
• social and economic promotion
• experimentation, scientific, educational and formative research

The Natural Park of the Friulian Dolomites, from the beginning of its activities, has made available for groups interested in naturalistic, environmental and ethnographic themes typical of mountainous areas. This service offers guided tours and stays for groups coming to meet the individual organizational needs. The proposed programs are useful to know the routes and places to visit as well as the methods, timing and costs of the service.

“In shape.. walking” organization

It is an organized and supervised service directed by the Natural Park of the Friulian Dolomites, which identifies locations, educational visits and activities suitable for groups of all kind (some even for disabled).

The guided tour service consists of itineraries aimed at the observation of nature, integrated with sports and recreational activities and also with a visit to Thematic Visit Center, Ethnographic Museums and Eco-museums.

The Friulian Dolomites Natural Park also organizes formative courses about environmental education developing naturalistic, scientific, ethnographic, fauna, geological, environmental topics and knowledge of the mountain territory.

Programs and itineraries

In the Natural Park of the Friulian Dolomites and surrounding villages every year are identified, tested and proposed the representative routes, with different and peculiar scientific, educational, sport and pedagogical features.
The itineraries are closely related to the Visitors Centers, Museums and Eco-museums. Each tour includes, besides the excursion itself, even a visit to an exhibition on a specific theme related to the route.
The itineraries of “In shape… walking”, in addition to allowing the development of basic environmental alpine and sub-alpine topics, offer the ability to reach and visit the villages and the various points of interest that characterize and distinguish the protected area.

Sports and recreational activities

Programs and proposals for sport activities to develop a closeness to the mountain environment by activating cognitive and psycho-motor skills. The aim is to trigger a special attention to environmental education through recreational incentives, a way to convey naturalness and sustainability to enjoy the mountains in complete safety and at the same time taking care of it.

Alpine hut rental and overnight

Some of the huts of the Friulian Dolomites Natural Park are available for hire and can be exploited as a base for trips involving an overnight stay with the objective to carry out environmental education n the spot and make specific wildlife observations.
It is the opportunity to be surrounded for two days in the wild environments of the Natural Park of the Friulian Dolomites trying to manage themselves with equipment and food for the camp in the mountains. One way to explore and get to know the most hidden and solitary places of this protected area.

Formative lessons in the classroom

The Natural Park of the Friulian Dolomites performs educational lessons in schools with on naturalistic, scientific, ethnographic, fauna, geological, environmental topics obviously related to the  mountain territory.
