Fauna eco-pathology

The ecopathology of  the fauna does not only consider the condition of the individual, but focuses on the host-parasite relationship (in the broadest sense of this term as suggested by WHO, also see the pages of this site dedicated to the diseases of ungulates ).
In this perspective, the disease of the single animal becomes the indicator of a super-animal’s health (the Park) consisting of all animals that inhabit it. One of the fundamental points of the fauna ecopathology is given by the close collaboration between veterinarians and fauna doctors. The information that can be obtained from a population of animals studied from this point of view can provide important information on the status of the environment in which the animals live and that  we humans share with them (animals as environmental health sentinels).
